My Wooden Toys is an Australian family-owned online toy store founded by Douglas and Margriet Walker and operated from our home in Denmark, WA.
What began in 2006 as a search for high-quality toys for our daughter grew into a long-standing commitment to providing thoughtfully chosen wooden toys and educational toys to families across Australia. Over nearly two decades, we have remained focused on sourcing durable, well-designed toys that encourage creativity, imagination and hands-on play.
Douglas and Margriet have both worked extensively with young people over the past 20 years — as community artists delivering drama and arts programs, and as educators within the formal education system. That experience continues to inform how we select the toys we stock.
As parents and educators, we have seen the growing impact of screen-based entertainment on children’s development.
While digital skills are part of modern life, children also need tactile, physical play — stacking, building, creating, experimenting and persisting. Wooden toys encourage concentration, problem-solving and imaginative thinking. They invite children to engage fully with their physical world.
