My Wooden Toys has long shared a family connection with First Story Designs, an Indigenous-owned creative business based in Western Australia.
Founded by William Peucker, a Bard man from Pender Bay on the Dampier Peninsula, First Story Designs began by creating Aboriginal designed children’s t-shirts that celebrated identity, connection to Country and cultural pride. William is the partner of Hannah Walker, our daughter, who was part of the inspiration behind My Wooden Toys when we established the store in 2006.
Celebrating Culture Through Design
One of the early designs in the children’s range was created by Banjima bub Fynley when he was just four years old. The artwork reflected joy, identity and belonging — values central to Indigenous storytelling and design.
These garments were more than clothing. They represented connection to culture, creativity and the passing on of story through art.
The Evolution of First Story Designs
First Story Designs has since evolved into a dedicated design and creative studio, continuing to produce culturally grounded artwork and design projects.

Respect, Support and Shared Values
We remain supportive of Indigenous-owned enterprises and creative initiatives that celebrate culture, respect and connection to Country.
At My Wooden Toys, we believe creativity, storytelling and learning through play are closely connected. Supporting meaningful cultural expression — whether through art, design or educational toys — remains part of our broader values as an Australian family-owned business.
